A Malayali girl is among the children who would accompany players with the ball for the Group E match to be staged at the St. Petersburg Stadium in Saint Petersburg.

Nathaniya, 11, chosen as an official match ball carrier (OMBC) for Friday's match, is a Class 7 student at the Hrishivala Boarding School at Madanapalli in Andhra Pradesh.

She is the daughter of Mathew John, who is from the Thiruvalla Kandathil family, and Saju Jacob from the Manampurathu family in Mavelikkara. The family lives at Grosswin Road, Kotagiri, Tamil Nadu.

Only two OMBCs have been chosen from India, the other being Hrishi Tej from Karnataka.
