ALL PENDING GST REFUNDS WILL BE CLEARED WITHIN A FORTNIGHT, assured Shri Pullela Nageswara Rao, Chief Commissioner of Central Excise , Customs and Service Tax, Kerala while inaugurating the Two Day National Conference on GST organized by the Indirect Taxes Committee of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) at IMA House, Kaloor, Ernakulam
ALL PENDING GST REFUNDS WILL BE CLEARED WITHIN A FORTNIGHT, assured Shri Pullela Nageswara Rao, Chief Commissioner of Central Excise , Customs and Service Tax, Kerala while inaugurating the Two Day National Conference on GST organized by the Indirect Taxes Committee of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) at IMA House, Kaloor, Ernakulam. The Conference was hosted by Ernakulam Branch of SIRC of ICAI. He appreciated the Ernakulam Branch of ICAI for conducting various programmes to spread the knowledge in Goods and Services Act. According to him Chartered Accountants are highly competent and are the most preferred professionals for providing advices in GST matters and compliance. He said that nearly 3 lakh assessees are registered in the state, 2.3 lakhs under the state department and remaining with the central department. Nearly 95% of the traders and services providers are compliant with law and it is that 5% who have to be roped in to the GST framework. Chartered Accountants have a major role to play in this aspect.
CA. P.T. Joy, Chairman, Ernakulam Branch of SIRC of ICAI welcomed the gathering. CA. Madhukar N Hiregange, Chairman, Indirect Taxes Committee of ICAI, CA.Jomon K George, Vice Chairman, SIRC of ICAI spoke on the occasion. CA. P.R. Sreenivasan proposed vote of thanks.
The technical session on the 1st day of the Conference were handled by CA. Madhukar N Hiregange (Bengaluru), Adv. V Raghurman (Bengaluru), Adv. K. Vaitheeswaran (Chennai) on the topics – “GST Audit”, “Input tax credit provisions, documentation and accounting”, “Export and Import of Services”.
The technical sessions of the second day of the conference would be on “Anti profiteering law & compliance rating and recent case laws in GST”, “ Comprehensive coverage on returns including proposed changes” which would be handled by, Dr. Sanjiv Agarwal, Jaipur and CA. Bimal Jain, New Delhi.
